Every year, our school sponsors a Veteran's Day Breakfast. It is a wonderful way to honor our local Veterans who have served our country. We honor those veterans by providing a fantastic breakfast along with creating artwork that shows our support and expresses our gratitude for their service.
To show our gratitude you are invited to create a piece of artwork (the size of a piece of copy paper - 8 1/2" x 11") that will be hung on the walls of the cafeteria for the veterans to enjoy and then take home. Art that is created in any 2D medium is acceptable. Students in my graphics classes will save their computer work in the Veterans Day "Robot" folder for their class period. These pieces will be printed out and you will mount them onto construction paper. Students in other classes will turn in their artwork directly to Mrs. Dion.
Each year, the veterans are amazed at the support and compassion of the high school students who take the time to make a difference in a veteran's life by creating a piece of art that puts a smile on their faces! Make a difference in someone's life and create a fantastic piece of art for someone!
However, not all of our military personnel return home to enjoy the Veteran's Day Breakfast. One of our graduates was killed in the line of duty on December 8, 2010. Friends of Lance Cpl. Michael E. Geary created the YouTube video below and I invite you to view it and honor his ultimate sacrifice.
Here are a few examples of what past students have created for our Veterans. Let this be a bit of inspiration for you as you create something to show your gratitude to those who have served our country!
